over left! forward! stop!

exhilirating. my first white water rafting experience.
we started fresh and early.
woke up at 6am (slept for barely 2 hours...due to showdown with mrs mumsie). did some morning stretches and went down to have a bowl of cereal (didn't want to have a certain gastronomical incident while rafting).

put on my gym pants (waterproof and flattering) and a Gap brown striped long sleeved tee, with my bikini underneath (say no to soggy underwear).

725am - mcdreamy arrived.
730am - picked mrs soapy & mr iran.
745am - arrived at restoran jejantas stop. met miss ray ray and mr mellow. mcdreamy and mr iran had nasi lemak.
800am - mr mellow's friends turned up.
820am - made our way to tanjung malim toll, where we were supposed to meet the guides.
915am - arrived at the final stop.
930am - bouncing in the jeep. probably had personality-altering-concussions when hitting my head numerous times on the roof of the jeep. as i peered out the back window...i realised why we it was a "turbulent" ride! the roads were...really really slopey with loads of pot holes.
1000am - given a briefing of the do's and don'ts. the instructions and how-to's. was pretty excited!!!! they were pumping up our rafts. big blue bouyant ones. we chose our life jackes, helmets and oars.
1030am - good to go!!!

i wish we could have taken pics of the ride (so no pics from me...boo!). at each rapid, your heart starts racing.
he shouts, "forward"!
and you will grab the oar and row as hard as you can.
then, after 2 seconds, its "up!", where we were supposed to hold the oars IN the raft facing up. and immediately grab hold of the rope (my hands are sore right now...hence the really slow-er typing).

so soon into my first river ride, we were already challenged by a grade 3 rapid! its called...something kotak (box). and we soon found out why! there were ROCKS in the SHAPE OF BOXES! a HUGE one LOOMED in front of us, as we were dipping into the abyss going down a mini waterfall. scary! apparently, this was a hot sopt for rafts capsizing! we got INTO the raft as instructed. we made it!!!! no one overboard!

after about 20mins, we arrived at our pit stop, where there were some buns, apples and water. we stayed there for almost an hour. had my first experience of "playing in the river".
the water was blissfully cold. the sound of the river rushing by was calming.

mcdreamy was busy splashing water at us. (i love him...)

it was time to go. to be honest, i have lost track of time. i was revving to go! bring the rapids on (ok, NOW i can say that).

the rest of the ride was really cool. more rapids. it was like going on a roller coaster. i almost fell into the water! i remember it happening. i was on the right side of the raft, perched on the edge. suddenly, the right side of the raft dipped a bit and i ALMOST toppled backwards! thankfully, mr iran grabbed me in time and i got safely into the raft. (THANKS MR IRAN!)

upon reaching the end...i felt sad. satisfied! but sad.

we made our way back to the stop. lunch was awaiting. nice kampung food.

white rice, ayam masak merah, sayur lodeh, something with a yellow kuah (which was very very spicy), fried fish, sambal tumis and cucumber.

yummmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm!!

then, we had a shower and left.

had a quick drink and pau at the famous 'tanjung malim stop'.

and finally, we made our way home.

and that concludes our white water rafting.

if you are ever interested in going rafting, do go with http://www.thepaddlerz.com/ . the guides are extremely friendly, the food is good, and best of all make sure you have as great company as i had...
