Pilihan Raya Umum ke-12

the ballots have been counted.

the winners have been announced.
some faces are beaming, and some are streaked with tears.
some wins were expected, and some losses were completely a shocker.

Barisan Nasional (BN), the existing govt won based on simple majority. however, they failed to obtain 2/3rds of the votes. opposition (DAP, PKR and PAS) have won so many this year, that i am sure they have outdone their KPIs!

BN who had strongholds in Kedah and Selangor lost to opposition. They also lost Penang and Perak. Kelantan also remained under opposition.

Ministers and Senates who have been "enjoying" being on the top of the food chain had to step down. Some deserving. Some not so (it was sad that Dato' Sharizat lost. she may not be perfect...but she has done a lot for her people).

i personally didn't vote. i AM registered, but apparently i was too late. how frustrating!?
oh well, to be honest...even if i could, i wouldn't know who to cast my vote for. i believe in BN because of the potential and promise they give. a united voice for all races...because in the end, what i want is peace, harmony and balance.

at the moment, some races are put aside. some races have all the privileges, but are not fully utilising it. some races may not have as much privilege, but are quire unscrupulous to get more.

our country is riddled with corruption. we are getting almost as bad as other countries like Indonesia. it would be scary, if one day we reach to a state where the people would need to pay to be part of the police force. government dealings always require an exchange of hands.

politics give power. power and corruption exists in the same equation.

politics = power = corruption

therefore, if our country's leaders do not see that the change must begin with them...there will be no end to it. some might blame those who are "giving". you can't change them. it is part of their DNA structure. however, if those who were offered does not "take". that's where it ends. nip it at the bud.

Ironically, BN's fastastic win in 2004 was based on this. The promise given by Pak Lah Badawi, to eradicate corruption put hope in the People's hearts. BN won at a landslide.

4 years later, Pak Lah has proved to be the biggest disappointment. Personally, i used to look up to him for being a man who looks like a nice person, a man with principles and a man who spoke from his heart.

and i feel sad to see how he has not done anything to keep his promise.

Ministers are getting more and more corrupted. There has been little or no development in this country despite the increasing expenditure. The People are getting unhappy and restless. Things that Pak Lah says makes him sound like an uneducated & uncouth person. His behaviour doesn't warrant his position. he forgot about The People. and that is the biggest mistake a Prime Minister can make.

during his interview in the wee hours this morning, Pak Lah made the stupidest comment.

Reporter: What are your opinions on the losses?
Pak Lah: If you lose, you lose. (Kalau dah kalah tu, kalahlah).

he completely threw away a huge opportunity to comfort and reassure the People. where were his advisors?! didn't they "advise" him what to say?

when i read this in the paper, i felt my heart dropping. my eyes watered. it sucks to lose faith in your supposed leader.

now the elections are over. a slap to their faces.

this is my opinion. Pak Lah needs to realise that the world he is living in now is not as rosy as he thinks it is. he has to step up. or step down. the country should NOT fall into opposition. however, there should be some opposition in the parliament for check & balance. to keep the governing party on the tip of their toes. no more lulling around in your "filthy" riches.

less domination = less power = less corruption

and...for those young "koochies" who has ambition to rise to the top, but have only their self-interest (and not the country's). please realise. everyone sees right through you. 3 recounts to finally get your win? sad.

oh...and whatever it is. let's not allow an "outcast" to climb to the top...again.

my opinions on the opposition party:

DAP: you don't know what their motives are. but whatever it is. it is not for the unity of races. it is pretty much skewed to a certain race.
PKR: a party that was once to fight for the release of the "outcast". the man who wanted to sell our souls to the West. but now...what are their objectives? are they opposing for the sake of opposing?
PAS: they DO live in their own world. but they DO cater for certain groups of people. however, i hope they will not misuse Islam as their front to win hearts.

they promised a lot. a reduction in petrol prices & taxes. hmm...i wonder how they plan to reduce petrol prices when it's rising across the world? in order to reduce, it would have to be heavily subsidised by the government. which will throw the economy out of whack. right.

so, they have 4 years to prove to the People. to keep THEIR promises. very unlikely.

i also think that...the People are generally not anti-government. they are just protesting at their declining state.
the next General Election will be interesting.

it is now time for BN to re-analyse their strategies again.
it is time for the Malays to "get up from their comfy lazy chairs".

it is time to wake up.

i agree that BN cannot always feels comfortable at where there are now. they've taken things for granted. The publics have proven to the leaders that they'll never support corrupted leader who will lead them. They will always support and vote the leaders who can prove improvement in their livings and society.
