as we were nearing the junction to our house, i saw some sparks falling onto the street from above the trees.
thought that there was someone doing some work, but curiousity got to me, and i drove up closer.
the streetlight was on fire!!
i am talking about FLAMES and SPARKS.
it was bloody scary!
i asked lil bro to call mrs mumsie to call the fire brigade.
when i got home, mrs mumsie was on the phone with them.
and apparently, the fire brigade asked her what type of fire it was.
and because it is a "small" fire, we were to call TNB.
they EVEN gave a NUMBER!?
15454.
RIGHT!
shouldn't THEY be calling the right parties?
was not campaigning '999' for emergencies meant for simplicity and ease to remember?
so why are they giving us YET another number?
Picture this.
panic. fire.
call '999'.
who then says to call '1820473920'
panic. can't remember number.
fire spreading.
everyone dies.
fantastic.
and the WEIRDEST thing was...everyone was so blase about it!
mrs mumsie was more concerned that there was no electricity!
and so was our neighbour who called to ask if our house had electricty!
i said to her, "oh auntie! there was a fire at one of the street lights!"
and to this, she said, "ohh...ok la, so no electricity, huh?"
*shake head in disbelief a'la Chandler from Friends*
i mean...seriously??? there is a FIRE!
with FLAMES!
but oh well...
either way, planning to complain to Malay Mail about this.
because this is about safety.
it we can't trust in '999', then...who do we call?
ghostbusters?
