bond-ing

i have never been a fan of james bond films.
when i was a little girl, my parents will bring my brothers and i to the cinema to watch the latest james bond film.
in 1989, it was 'license to kill', starring Timothy Dalton as James Bond.

this movie triggered my intense dislike towards James Bond films.
i would like to agree with the rest of the world that this was because Timothy Dalton made the worst James Bond.
but my real reason really stemmed from the gruesome and horrific part where villain, milton krest, was blown up in a pressure chamber. (a moment of eew-ness please).
in all my 7 year-glory, i instantly felt nauseaus and threw up right there in the cinema.

eew.

and even after James Bond changed his face to Pierce Brosnan, it still did not excite me to watch James Bond films. because, now...it just became all about sex (picturing women to be brainless bimbos succumbing to his manliness?), fast cars and explosives. in other words, a film fest for men.

so, when Casino Royale came about with Daniel Craig assuming the role of the new James Bond, I was still hesitant and honestly not interested to watch.

until...a few nights before the premier of Quantum of Solace, Casino Royale showed on Astro. And i caught the last 15 mins of the show.

oh my. how my perception instantly changed! the movie managed to completely capture my attention. and what with my mini girl crush on the new Bond girl, Olga Kurylenko, i was convinced. convinced that the new Bond is much, much more than what it was years ago.

as a surprise (though he wasn't that surprised), i treated mcdreamy to the GSC Gold Class for Quantum of Solace.

verdict (s):
  1. i totally love the movie. intense action scenes from the start till the end!
  2. i have a girl crush on olga kurylenko. i am so inspired by her hair! i loved the idea of a strong female power in the film, who didn't have to overexpose her body & be all bimbo-ish. she was very stylish. love her debut outfit (orange top).
  3. i thought ms. fields was a redundant character, and wonder if she was put there so that there are two 'bond girls'?
  4. i decided that daniel craig is not too bad as bond. despite him balding.
so, do go and check out this film.

and seeing as i have resolved (sort of) to cut my hair by 31st December...i am definitely leaning towards Olga's chic bob...:)
