bubba gump

it was mr arab's birthday last wednesday. and my heart filled with glee when mcdreamy told me that we were going to bubba gump for his birthday dinner.

been so curious about it!

bubba gump restaurant, located in The Curve, is based on the movie 'Forrest Gump'. So, you can expect the ambience to reflect this. Loads of Forrest Gump memorabilia (for sale too!) and they even had this funky device to alert waiters on call.

so, you are supposed to display this plate, which says "Run Forrest Run" if you don't want the waiter to come to the table. If you want to call for their attention, you will switch the plate to say "Stop Forrest Stop". Problem was, we kept on forgetting to switch it back to "Run Forrest Run", so the waiters kept on coming to our table.

mcdreamy and i ordered to share. ordered Shrimp NetCatch (3/4 pounds) and Shrimp Heaven (or something like that). When it arrived, it looked quite pathetic (sikit), and was tempted to order another meal.

However, thankfully one of us was thinking straight and decided to finish what we ordered first.

Thank GOD! cause we were so full and shrimp-i-fied by the end of it!

to add to our fullness, mr olie and mrs zai brought some cupcakes with pretty candles that spelt 'happy birthday'. cupcakes were from 'cupcake chic', which always means "mmmmm...cupcaaakes (Homer's donut impersonation)".

and like most Western eateries in Malaysia (e.g. Fridays, Chillis), Mr Arab had to stand on the chair while the waiters all chanted (not sing) and clapped to a beat. He even had to do a little boogie! cute.

anyway, we had fun. some complained the food was not THAT great. lack of choices. i personally felt it was ok. unfortunately, mcdreamy never wants to go back. :p
