the science of sexy - by bradley bayou

i bought this really cool book at kinokuniya.
Bayou...celebrates the beauty of all women in his book The Science of
Sexy
- People.
..good advise...the best aspect is Bayou's acceptance that most women are
not six-foot, 114-pound Siberian teens with breast implants...- USA
TODAY

according to his book, my body type is: Average Medium Triangle

i am AVERAGE height
i am at MEDIUM weight
my body form is TRIANGLE, as my shoulders are narrower than hips (read: big bottomed).
i have a defined, narrow waist. my hips are full and my bottom is round.

My blessings:

  1. Born with amazing curves
  2. strong silhouette (due to curves) hence halfway to sexy
  3. gorgeous hips (errrrr...)
  4. full, rounded bottom (how is this a blessing?)
  5. beautiful, shapely thighs (more like thunder thighs)
  6. narrow waist (yay!) & small ribcage (yay!), which makes it easier to flatter my upper body
  7. slender neck (yay!)
  8. small bust (i am more medium actually)

My curse:

  1. low balanced body (boo!)
  2. silhoutte (the supposed strong one...see above) reaches its broadest point at hips, which leads to me being bottom-heavy/big bottomed.

not too bad...i have apparently MORE blessings than curses...:p

What To Wear
Tops:
  • to widen shoulders to match hips = v-necks, boatnecks, wide-set scoop necks, off-shoulder tops
  • to show-off slender necks & reveal narrow torse = wrap tops & surplice tops
  • to add volume to shoulders = fluted sleeves, flutter sleeves, puffed sleeves
  • show off cleavage (hmmm...)

Dresses:
  • empire dresses, that flows gently over hips
  • halter dresses in fluid, mid-weight fabrics
  • wrap dresses in matte jersey
  • sheath dresses in delicate patterns & dark background
  • dresses should be hemmed to knee length or above (i don't think so!) to make legs look longer and hips smaller...

Skirts:
  • dark, neutral-coloured skirts (with ligh coloured tops)
  • knee length pencil skirts (with no waistband and in structured, firm fabrics)
  • a-line skirts (in light fabrics hat flows over lower-half)

Pants & Jeans:
straight-leg jeans
bootcut jeans (slight flare)
pants in black & dark colours
dark denim jeans
if i am slim (or when?) i can go for stovepipe jeans (whoa!) to appear slimmer
medium sized pockets

Coats & Jackets:
puffed-sleeve blazers (i like!)
a-line coats (skims over thighs and bottom)

Jewellery & accesories:
  • colourful, feminine scarves around neck (don't think so...not a fan)
  • drop earrings
  • short necklaces
  • brooches
  • bright, medium-sized handbag (to be tucked under arm) :p

Shoes:

  • pointy-toed high heels (check!)
  • peep-tow stilletoes (check!)

What Not To Wear

  • no horizontal accents at hem (if ends at hips)
  • no crew neck
  • no raglan tops

Dresses:

  • no drop waist dresses
  • no fitted halter dresses
  • no shiny fabrics, like silk/satin (s***! most of the dresses i made were satin!)
  • no tight/clingy fabrics - NO LYCRA

Skirts:

  • no praire skirts (noooooooooooooo! these are my FAVES)
  • no skirts that hems at ankles (noooooo! i don't wear short skirts!!!)
  • no full skirts (weird...i have always thought this would flatter)
  • no stiff fabrics (agreed)
  • no horizontal details (agreed)

Pants & Jeans

  • no cargo pants (agreed)
  • no low-rise jeans (hmmmm...)
  • no bulky waistlines at widest point
  • no textured fabrics (terry cloth) ...that means no juicy couture sweat suits...hehe
  • no bright colours for bottoms

Shoes

  • no chunky, heeled shoes
  • no dark, knee-high boots

Coats & Jackets

  • not hemmed at hip
  • avoid soft fabrics (like linen & jersey)
  • no front pockets at hip

Jewelry & accesories

  • no super-long pendant necklaces (crap!)
  • no opaque tights in same colour as skirt (apparently makes you look shorter)
  • no large bags that hangs at hip.

My ONE Fashion Must-Have: a dark, bootcut jean

Believe me...it has been an eternity quest to find these pair of jeans. so you don't have to tell me that. any recommendations?
whoa...think its harder to let go of the "forbidden" items...*sigh*...time to spring clean my closet!
